Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has lamented that Nigeria as a country has fallen well below expectations even as the country prepares to celebrate its 61st independence anniversary. Wike on Sunday while bemoaning the huge leadership failure in the country said perhaps the only thing Nigeria can celebrate is its name which continues to exist.
He observed that insecurity in many parts of the country, as well as economic hardship being experienced by the people, leaves a sour taste in the mouth as the country marks another independence celebration.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the bribery allegations rocking the party. Naija News reports that some PDP NWC members announced the return of the sum of N93.6 million paid to their bank accounts by the embattled National Chairman.
The PDP chieftains, in different statements, claimed that they received the notification of the payment from their bank accounts without any description or purpose.
The NWC members that returned the money to the party include, the National Vice Chairman (South-West), Olasoji Adagunodo, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice Chairman (South), Dan Orbih and National Women Leader, Stella Affah-Attoe.
