Nick Cannon doesn’t seem to mind how close he gets to his female co-stars. Today, Wild ‘n Out performer Justina Valentine, took to social media in support of Cannon’s new film, She Ball. In a TikTok Video, the self-proclaimed freestyle queen is shown dancing provocatively on her boss. The Masked Singer host was all too receptive. Valentine encouraged her followers to use the sound in the video to receive a movie giveaway from Cannon. Valentine also jokes that she is trying to “earn a raise” in the process.
Nick Cannon Shown Dancing on Justina Valentine in TikTok Video
Cannon has no shortage of media attention these days, especially when the topic revolves around women. In a seemingly self-aware joke, Wild ‘n Out actress Valentine posted a TikTok of her and Cannon getting a little too close for comfort.
“Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Jump on TikTok to find out if I got a raise & use this sound, “Girl Don’t You Do It, @NickCannon said he’s gonna give away some official She Ball gear to the best vids,” Valentine wrote on Twitter.
Considering the current climate surrounding Cannon’s interactions with women, this seems like a surefire way to gain some attention for his new project. In the TikTok, Cannon is seen dressed head to toe in She Ball attire including a hoodie and matching joggers, with the logo on full display. The “goal” of the video was to inspire a TikTok challenge using the particular sound. The winner deemed fit by Cannon will receive the merchandise he’s showing off.
The video also centers around Valentine using her sexuality in order to get a “raise,” from her boss: “Go ask @nickcannon if it worked,” she captioned the TikTok.
As per her Instagram story, the TV star posts herself at Cannon’s NCredible studio following her video. She then posts multiple photos of herself rocking a She Ball jersey and Wild ‘n Out socks.
The sexual nature of the TikTok, has caused fans to have a field day in the comments section. I do believe that one of the main reasons they created the video in the first place, was to create this type of attention.
“9 months later…Headlines Justina just had Nick’s new set of Triplets,” one person commented.
As we are well aware, Cannon had twins earlier this year with Alyssa Scott who was also a Wild ‘n Out girl. It’s no surprise that people are making these sort of comments. Cannon is very aware of the message he is portraying, even if he doesn’t realize it’s misogynistic undertones.
This does not come as a shock to me, as his campaign for She Ball wasn’t as centered around a female narrative as it should have been. On the official movie website, the female lead was listed next to last in the credit list. She was also almost undetectable in the cast list on IMDb. It seems that Cannon focused more importance to his male friends in the industry, than to the driving force of the plot.
His new way to promote the film isn’t much better. Yes, the TikTok it was all for laughs, but did the joke really land? Perhaps he is just embracing his newfound reputation, but I predict more content of this nature from Cannon in the future.
