Her date of birth is of much question. Her death certificate listed July 26, 1902 as her date of birth and many newspapers listed her birth year as 1906 at the time of her death. However, in the 1900 U.S. Census, she was listed as being born in July 1895 and July 26, 1895 has been commonly referenced as her date of birth since the discovery in the 1900 U.S. Census.
Family Life
She married actor George Burns, and the couple adopted two children in the 1930s. She was also married to Fred Astaire and acted alongside him in A Damsel in Distress.
