President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania has come under blistering criticism after she made remarks that suggested flatchested women are not as attractive to men as compared to their counterparts who have "well-endowed" chests.

Speaking on Sunday, August 22, Suluhu claimed that flat-chested women were not the best candidate for marriage, suggesting most men preferred women with 'decorated' chests as mates.

"Samia attributed intense physical exercise female footballers undergo to their "flat chests", Daily Nation reported.

In her speech, she joked that some of the lean-bodied sportswomen had masculine bodies and hardly looked like women.

"Because of those flat-chests, you might think they are men and not women. And if you look at their faces you might wonder... because if you want to marry, you want someone who is attractive, a lady who has the qualities that you want," she said.

Samia expressed her worries about the future of women footballers stating that their career requirements were dealing a blow to their feminine appearance. This, she said, may deter most men from asking for their hand in marriage.

"Today they are making us proud as a nation when they bring trophies to the country but if you look at their lives in the future, when the legs are tired from playing, when they don't have the health to play, what life will they be living?" she said.
