Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media, said Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi could run for president in 2023.
The president’s spokesman made the announcement in an article published on Friday titled ‘Dave Umahi’s Heart of Lion‘.
He wrote that the All Progressives Congres (APC) has not yet fielded a nomination system so Umahi has the right to run for any government seat if he has enough supporters to lead him to victory.
Naija News recalls that the Ebonyi governor recently defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The president’s spokesman wrote that “Umahi had always loved and respected President Muhammadu Buhari, and never hid it, though they were of different political parties. And the President reciprocated in like manner. In fact, the first State the President ever visited in the country and passed the night was Ebonyi. Umahi was PDP in the exterior, but APC at heart.”
The president’s spokesman went on to say that Umahi had shown courage in taking the decision to leave the PDP and join the APC.
Adesina advised southern politicians to change their policies if they want to smell the country’s presidency.
